ENGIE

ModerateReportedEnergy

ENGIE has notified some of its customers of a cybersecurity incident affecting a tool used by commercial partners to market energy offers. A malicious act allowed unauthorized access to personal data: first and last name, postal address, email address, phone number, customer ID, contract number and electricity delivery point or gas metering point references. According to ENGIE, banking data is not affected. The provider involved, the date of the incident and the number of customers affected have not been disclosed.

This data lets a malicious third party contact a person while posing as their energy supplier, citing accurate details about their contract and address.

  • Full name
  • Postal address
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Customer ID

You are only affected if you had an account or an order with this organisation.

What you can do

  • Expect phishing attempts quoting your name and this company. A message that knows your details is not legitimate for that reason.
