I-CAD (Ingenium animalis)
ModerateReportedPublic sector
On 18 October 2026, a threat actor offered for sale, on a cybercriminal forum, a database they attribute to I-CAD, the French national register for the identification of dogs, cats and ferrets. They claim it covers 2.2 million distinct people, mainly animal keepers, plus a second file on 50,000 veterinarians. According to the source, the samples reviewed contain first and last names, information about the animals and microchip numbers. The samples do not establish that postal addresses, e-mail addresses or phone numbers are included. The technical origin has not been established, and the incident is presented as separate from the 2025 one. The figures have not been independently confirmed.
Pairing a name with a microchip number lets a third party link a specific animal to its keeper.
