Nikkei Inc.
HighConfirmedMedia and leisure
Nikkei Inc., a Japanese business media group, stated that stolen credentials were used to access a cloud-hosted development system in the early hours of 7 October 2026. About 1.83 million records are involved; roughly 150,000 contain at least one of the following: name, email address, postal address, phone number, date of birth (email address in about 120,000). The remaining ~1.68 million records contain no direct identifiers, and no payment card data is involved. As of 16 October, Nikkei reported no evidence of misuse or online disclosure; affected individuals are to be notified individually. The figure counts records, not necessarily people.
These contact details and birth dates could be used for targeted phishing messages impersonating the company.
