LowConfirmedDigital services
Scribd has confirmed that an unauthorized third party accessed its computer systems, affecting the ecosystem of services comprising Scribd, Everand, SlideShare and Fable. The attacker used this initial access to reach other internal systems before access was cut off and the vulnerability that enabled it was fixed. For most affected accounts, only basic account-related information was viewed; for a smaller number of people, more sensitive information is also said to be involved, though its exact nature has not been made public. The total number of affected accounts has not been disclosed.
The exposed account information could be used to craft phishing campaigns targeting users of the Scribd, Everand, SlideShare and Fable services.
