Greenberg Traurig

CriticalConfirmedOther

International law firm Greenberg Traurig, headquartered in Miami, notified some of its clients on September 8, 2026 that an unauthorized actor had accessed certain files on August 26, 2026 and posted them on a leak site. The extortion group Silent Ransom Group claimed the attack and says 126,000 people may be affected, a figure not confirmed by the firm, which describes a 'small number' of affected clients and states its systems as a whole were not breached. Data identified in the notice includes full name, Social Security number, date of birth, address, wage/compensation information, tax return information, and direct deposit bank details.

The combination of name, date of birth and Social Security number enables identity theft, and the exposed direct-deposit banking details can facilitate targeted bank fraud.

Exposed data

  • Full name
  • Social security number
  • Date of birth
  • Postal address
  • Banking data (IBAN, card)
  • Employment data
  • Other personal data

You are only affected if you had an account or an order with this organisation.

What you can do

  • Watch your statements. On any unknown debit, block the card and request a refund — French law (art. L133-18) entitles you to it.
  • These documents enable identity theft, and cannot be reissued at will. Keep the notification letter: it proves where the leak came from if an account is opened in your name.
  • You can ask the organisation exactly what was exposed about you (right of access), and complain to the DPA if no answer comes within a month.
